Memorial Day Weekend float down the Snake River from Conant to Byington got us some quality time on the river, an up-close-and-nearly-personal intro to a big rattlesnake (we ended up deciding NOT to camp there), some good victuals, a good night's sleep with the gurgling river just feet from our tent, and a little paddleboard time for Lucia and Daddy, while Clara and Mommy rowed. Check out some snippets:
Try Full Screen F11 - grainy, but big - and you may want to toggle the volume a bit on the quiet parts. There are some gems just under the audible threshold.
Skiing up along Cottonwood Creek, we stopped on a bridge, and saw some tempting trailbreaking. Great Uncle Jim, cousin Sam, Clara, Dad and I followed the creek, laying down some fresh tracks in the powder...an awesome tour on a beautiful day! And I didn't even need poles! Even though I fell down a lot, and sat down a bunch too, I kept on cruising till the end.
Those all natural oils were no match for the opportunistic bloodsucking mosquitoes who caught me with my pants down. Thank goodness for mom's bite soothing cream!
Daddy took us for a hike up the Putt Putt trail east of Jackson.
We found live and dead worms in the trail and did our best to save the ones that wiggled!
